Intern Program
The Carolinas Center supports the development of therapists by offering training opportunities in conjunction with local Master’s degree programs. Our interns provide individual and group therapy for adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, interpersonal conflict, relationship difficulties and other life stressors. Therapy sessions are tailored to individual clients and their needs, and interns are trained to utilize a variety of counseling theories and techniques. This includes the use of trauma-informed services when appropriate.
Interns are closely supervised by licensed counselor and supervisor, Justina Floyd. Ms. Floyd provides hands-on training and is consistently involved in all cases, ensuring that you receive optimal care when working with graduate counseling interns.

max sindermann (he/him)
Max is pursuing his Masters Degree in Counseling at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He first discovered his passion for helping others as a guitar teacher in Los Angeles, where he found that his students’ greatest obstacles in learning could be conquered by helping them to confront their own emotional barriers and fears. Max saw their growth and mastery as they allowed themselves to make mistakes and granted themselves the patience to learn.
Max’s work as a crisis counselor for The Trevor Project has only deepened his desire to help others, particularly trauma survivors who are struggling to find a new path to regain control of their lives. Max’s guiding philosophy is that healing from trauma is a journey that requires self-compassion and patience, and he is honored to support clients along this path.
