I don’t live in North Carolina. Can I still do teletherapy?
In most cases, you need to be physically present in the state that your therapist is licensed in. All of our clinicians can offer therapy to clients located throughout the State of North Carolina.
Will my insurance pay for Teletherapy?
There has been an increasing trend toward insurance coverage for teletherapy sessions. In light of the social distancing and restrictions associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, most insurance carriers are covering these sessions the same as they would an in-office session and, in some cases, they are waiving member cost-sharing (copayments, coinsurance, deductible, etc.). You should contact your insurance carrier to determine if your plan is offering this valuable benefit.
Is Teletherapy safe and secure?
Yes! Teletherapy sessions are held over an encrypted HIPAA-compliant platform that is linked to your client profile within our health records system. Your therapist will be in a private room to ensure that the utmost privacy and confidentiality.
Are there times when teletherapy isn’t appropriate?
At times, clients experience distress that can’t be adequately assessed or treated through a video conferencing platform. This is particularly true when there are concerns regarding self-harm and personal endangerment. Your therapist will talk with you about other options for receiving treatment to ensure that you’re getting what you need.
What if I’m experiencing audio/video technical difficulties?
While the Simple Practice platform is easy-to-use, it’s not always flawless. Your therapist will work with you to resolve the issues during the session time. If it can’t be fixed, other methods of completing the session will be used, such as switching to telephonic format.
